Obituary: Raymond Kenny Jr., Of Lindenhurst, Dies of Coronavirus
The 68-year-old former acting president for the LIRR passed away over the weekend from complications due to the virus.
LINDENHURST, NY — Raymond Kenny Jr., former acting president for the Long Island Railroad and Lindenhurst resident, died from complications due to the coronavirus over the weekend. He was 68. Kenny passed away on Saturday after he spent a week at Good Samaritan Medical Hospital in West Islip and was put on a ventilator, his family told Newsday.
"Ray Kenny was the quintessential LIRR employee as he rose in the ranks all the way to serve as the Acting President and led its Superstorm Sandy recovery," Town of Babylon Supervisor Rich Schaffer wrote in a post on Facebook post. "Personally, I can tell you that you couldn't ask for a better person to work with in public service on behalf of our residents. Ray's passing is a great loss for our town. May he Rest in Peace."
He was predeceased by his mother, Mary Kenny, who died at 101-years-old in 2015. Kenny was also predeceased by his father, Raymond Kenny II, in 1982.

He is survived by two brothers, Ed Kenny and Bob Kenny, Newsday reports.
A private service will be held on Wednesday, April 22 at the Lindenhurst Funeral Home and at 12:30 p.m. Kenny will be buried at Pinelawn Memorial Park in Farmingdale.
