Sanitation Worker Run Over, Killed In Lindenhurst: Police

Suffolk police said Jonathan Kehoe fell off his sanitation truck as the driver was going in reverse.

LINDENHURST, NY — A sanitation worker was killed in Lindenhurst Wednesday morning after he fell off his truck, according to Suffolk police.

Jonathan Kehoe, 59, of Medford, was riding on the back of the truck at 9:05 a.m. collecting garbage when he fell off as the driver was going in reverse on South 4th Street, just south of 3rd Avenue, police said. Kehoe was run over, police said.

Kehoe was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip and pronounced dead. Officers from the Suffolk County Police Motor Carrier Safety Section responded to the scene to perform a safety check on the vehicle.
