Photos, Video: Sand Removal Underway at Boat Launch at Venetian Shores
Sand has been piled high across the East side of the boat launch at Venetian Shores, thanks to Hurricane Sandy. Work to remove it has begun.
It's almost five months since Hurricane Sandy pushed ashore in Lindenhurst, leaving a path of destruction in the areas South of Montauk Highway.
But there were signs of some normalcy being restored at Venetian Shores last Wednesday when work began to remove the large piles of sand Sandy pushed from the beach onto the boat launch there.
Rockmore Construction is the private contractor doing the work for the Town of Babylon, according to Christopher Torre, who works for the company.

He was there on Wednesday with another worker starting the job that involves removing the sand from the launch and putting it back onto the beach.
Torre said the job should be completed by this week.
