As the holidays approach Lindy residents notice the red ribbons decorating the village and can thank and honor the Lindenhurst Senior High School Marine Corp. ROTC for the beautiful display. Each year, the ROTC collaborate with Lindy Cares to share a vision of a "Drug Free Lindenhurst" and celebrate their tireless service and dedication to bringing awareness and creating change to address serious issues facing today's modern students. The ribbons, donated annually by The Little Flower Shop, give Lindy students a chance to place them around town bringing attention to their pledge to live drug an alcohol free. Our ROTC assists in efforts to bring fun and healthy activities for kids during Lindy Cares Annual Color Run and they are always ready to formally present the colors at local ceremonies. The ROTC students serve as role models for younger students and their civic involvement and acts of community service never go unnoticed. This year girl and Boy Scout troops joined the campaign and a chance to earn an official badge from the DEA. Please join the Lindenhurst Community Cares Coalition Board of Directors and all of the volunteers and community partners in offering a sincere THANK YOU to the directors of the program, Christine Glynn and Magdolna Resker as well as the Girl and Boy Scout leaders for their care and commitment in helping Lindy students grow stronger and more prepared to achieve their dreams and reach their fullest potential.
