Road Closures Announced In Town Of Babylon For Next Week

Check out the street closures during road work and repairs taking place next week.

SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY - The New York State Department of Transportation announced overnight lane closures for next week in the Towns of Babylon and Islip.

Motorists should expect closures beginning Sunday, August 19 on State Route 27 between Exit 40 (State Route 231) and Exit 39 (Hubbards Path).

Two eastbound lanes will be closed Sunday nights through Thursday nights and two westbound lanes will
be closed Monday nights to Friday nights.

Closures will take place between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m.

One lane in each direction of Sunrise Highway as well as the service roads will remain open.

The overpass bridge for Higbie Lane will undergo bridge painting and minor steel repairs, similar to work
being done to seven other Suffolk County bridges at a cost of $5.2 million.

Work at this location is expected to be completed within the next three weeks, weather permitting.
