Senator Brooks Meets with Lindy Cares Coalition Leaders!

Senator Brooks took the time to meet with Lindy Cares Youth to talk about prevention and the growing concern around youth misuse of Vaping products and the adverse health effects that have yet to be studied and evaluated. Lindy cares youth seek to minimize instances of respiratory issues and lung damage caused by harmful chemicals and additives commonly used in vape "juice" and flavoring. Prevention education and a firm study of the vape campaigns and advertising will arm unsuspecting youth who were originally told that Vaping was merely harmless water vapor with factual information. Senator Brook collaborated with Freeport School District to produce legislation to place restrictions on targeted advertising by a popular manufacturer of vapes frequently chosen by teens JUUL. Currently tabled, the Senator plans to pursue a vote on the legislation when he is back in session. To stay ahead of the curve Lindy Cares youth brought the issue of KRATOM to Senator Brooks and have initiated work with Suffolk County Legislator Kevin McCaffrey to compile information about this emerging trend EARLY in an effort to bolster prevention efforts targeting reduction of accessibility of this deadly substance.
