SpringFest Set for This Weekend, Lindy
The annual festival is set for May 3 to 5, rain or shine, and features rides, entertainment, vendors and lots of food.
Every year as the weather turns warmer, Lindenhurst residents know SpringFest is right around the corner.
This year is no exception, and Friday, May 3, at 5 p.m. SpringFest once again takes center stage in the Village on Wellwood Avenue, attracting residents who want to enjoy some music, buy a knick-knack and have a good time.
And this year, after Hurricane Sandy and a tough, cold Northeast Winter, this annual outdoor community event will be especially welcomed.
The three-day event - sponsored by the Lindenhurst Chamber of Commerce - begins on Friday evening with a midway featuring rides and games along Hoffman Avenue.
Residents will be able to enjoy SpringFest from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, May 3, 12:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, May 4, and 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 5.
Wellwood Avenue will be closed to traffic on Sunday afternoon during SpringFest to allow residents to visit stores and all sorts of vendors with arts and crafts up and down the street, from John Street to Gates Avenue.
They'll be able to admire some classic cars, as well as live music.
All three days residents will be able to enjoy plenty of food options, too, from a host of vendors, including sweets, pretzels, sausage and peppers, and other hot dishes and delights.
Also on Sunday the Lindenhurst Fire Department will hold EMS day at the main house on South Wellwood Avenue.
The open house event will feature free blood pressure readings, CPR demonstrations and a demo of the extrication process at an motor vehicle accident with the Hurst tool and spreaders, according to information shared with Lindenhurst Patch by LFD member Jennifer Price.
Health information packets will also be available.
