T-Shirts, Food Donated Through Marathon

Runners, Employees Aid Organizations Through Donations

Suffolk County and the Greater Long Island Running Club donated over 400 shirts from the 2016 Suffolk County Marathon to local veterans groups and Goodwill Industries.

"The Suffolk County Marathon offers residents an amazing opportunity to give back to their community and help veterans in need," Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone said. "Whether you are giving your time, energy, or material items like clothes, it is heartening to know that Suffolk County residents are always looking out for those in need.
"I would like to send a special thank you to GLIRC, Goodwill Industries International, Inc., the Joseph P. Dwyer Veterans Peer Support Project, and the Suffolk County Veterans Service Agency as well as everyone who participated or volunteered during the 2016 Suffolk County Marathon.

Runners and Suffolk County employees also donated more than 400 pounds of food to Long Island Cares at the Suffolk marathon expo, and will collect donations again at the next race on Oct. 29.
