Tanner Park, Venetian Shores Beaches Closed Due to Bacteria
County health department announces closures Tuesday afternoon.
Tanner Park Beach in Copiague and Venetian Shores Beach in Lindenhurst are closed to swimming due to the finding of bacterial levels in excess of acceptable criteria, the Suffolk County Department of Health Services announced Tuesday afternoon.
According to Suffolk County Commissioner of Health Dr. James Tomarken, bathing in bacteria-contaminated water can result in gastrointestinal illness, as well as infections of the eyes, ears, nose, and throat.
