TOWN OF BABYLON, NY — After large crowds turned out for the first weekend of early voting starting Saturday, Town of Babylon residents will now get updates on wait time before they cast their ballots.

Supervisor Rich Schaffer announced Monday the new plan to update residents with current wait times for early voting at Babylon Town Hall on Phelps Lane in North Babylon via Facebook.

A pinned post at the top of its Facebook page, Town of Babylon – Government, will have the current wait time listed, which will be updated every hour with the current wait time.

"As someone who has spent many years in government, I am thrilled to see so many people come out to exercise their right to vote in such an important election year," Supervisor Rich Schaffer said. "We want to do all we can to make sure our residents can accurately plan ahead when making their plan to vote. I encourage our senior population who will be voting in-person to take advantage of times when the line is not as long, and ask that all residents adhere to social distancing and face covering guidelines as we continue to battle COVID-19."

Early voting is available to all registered voters through Sunday, Nov. 1. Early voting is restricted to only certain locations and times. Click here for more information. Those voting in-person on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 3 must cast their ballot at their usual polling place.
