Village To Host Public Hearing On Lindenhurst 2021-2022 Budget

LINDENHURST, NY — The Village of Lindenhurst will be hosting a public meeting Tuesday night to discuss to proposed 2021-2022 budget.
The $15,500,995 budget is a 5 percent increase from the 2020-2021 budget of $14,769,180.
The increase in the budget also comes with an increase in taxes by 5.4 percent.

According to the budget documents, the tax rate has gone up from $19.74 to $20.92. In addition, the sanitation fee for a one-family home has increased from $228 to $236.
The proposed 2021-2022 budget would mean that a single-family home with an assessed value of $4,000 will pay $1,072.80 in taxes while a two-family home with an assessed value of $8,000 will pay $2,145.60 in taxes.

The past year resulted in a $108,000 cut in state aid to the village as well as a $1 million loss in revenue due to COVID-19, according to a Newsday report.
