Lindenhurst Meadery Expands
Lindenhurst is the home of the mead tasting room and producer W A Meadwerks, which is growing to meet demand.
LINDENHURST, NY — Mead may be an emerging trend but in Lindenhurst the honey-based wine is catching on. W A Meadwerks, a meadery and tasting room, announced last month that they are expanding. The tasting room will continue to be located at 26 Hoffman Avenue, and the added space will help owners Joseph Abruzzo and Roger Wanner meet production demand. The partners acquired the former jiu jitsu studio at 290 North Wellwood Avenue to serve as a new production facility.
Abruzzo told Patch that it was important to him and his partner to keep the production in Lindenhurst.
"Lindenhurst has been very good to us. The village made it very easy for us to open and they are super supportive. We are happy we chose to keep our production in the village. Plus the residents here have been great. We have built a great community of regulars from this town."

The 2,500 square feet facility will allow W A Meadwerks to triple their batch sizes and can meads and distribute the ancient drink into retail outlets. They also plan to expand their keg supply to bars and restaurants.
"Hopefully the new space will be operational by June so we would be able to get cans out buy early to mid-July," Abruzzo said.

"It’s also great to be part of this amazing revitalization of the downtown. There are so many amazing new businesses here and more scheduled to open."
