Watch: Lindy 4th & 5th Grade Chorus Sings 'Hang On'

The chorus students from Albany Avenue Elementary School sing a song written by teacher Fabian Reyes, who also leads them in a rendition of 'Here Comes the Sun.'

The fourth- and fifth-grade chorus heralded the coming of Spring with two songs that brought the packed Lindenhurst Middle School auditorium to its feet with applause at the recent recent Lindenhurst Board of Education Community Forum.

Rose Marvel, Lindenhurst Schools coordinator of fine and performing arts, introduced the Albany Avenue Elementary School* chorus led by teacher Fabian Reyes.

"They're singing two songs that capture the meaning of Spring: Here Comes the Sun, and Hang On, which was written by Mr. Reyes," she said.

Afterward Reyes told Lindenhurst Patch he was inspired to write the song because of a hard time a friend was going through last Fall.

"I felt such empathy, and it was also during Hurricane Sandy, so I felt the song could connect with the world, as well as on a personal level," Reyes explained.

It was the first time Hang On was performed anywhere, he noted.
