Woman Critically Injured In Hit-And-Run Crash In Copiague
The woman was crossing Sunrise Highway when she was hit by a driver Wednesday night, police said.
COPIAGUE, NY — A pedestrian was critically injured in a hit-and-run crash in Copiague Wednesday night, according to Suffolk police.
Maria Hernandez-Sanchez, 59, of Amityville, was crossing Sunrise Highway from south to north at the intersection of Bayview Avenue when she was struck by a driver headed east at 10:15 p.m., police said. The driver was in a gray SUV, police said.
Hernandez-Sanchez was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip for treatment of critical injuries.

Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to call the First Squad at 631-854-8152 or Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS. Police said all calls will remain confidential.
