East school teacher and long-time West End resident, Bea Laufgraben Sachs died last week at the age of 98. She moved to Long Beach from Brooklyn, NY in 1948 and left in 2011, just before Hurricane Sandy flooded the city and her bay-front home. She loved taking long walks on the boardwalk!
A stone sculptor, Scrabble and Bridge champion, avid reader, she was a fan of Rachel Maddow, and fiercely anti-Trump. Bea was a beautiful and brilliant woman, who always had a handsome man on her arm. Married to my father Murray (Morris Laufgraben) for 25 years, she loved leopard prints, jewelry, and Jackie Kennedy style sunglasses.
Graveside services Tuesday, October 27th at Mt. Ararat. Shiva in Bernstein/Shapiro, 83 Wooster Street 5 F on Tuesday and Wednesday, from 6 PM to 9 PM.
