Coastal Flood Advisory In Effect For Nassau This Afternoon

The National Weather Service says low-lying areas could see up to two feet of water.

The National Weather Service is advising that there could be flooding this afternoon in coastal areas of Long Island.

According to NWS, the advisory is in effect from 1 to 4 p.m. today, and includes areas along the South Shore's back bays and any oceanfront properties.

Tides will be about 1 1/2 to 2 feet higher than average, the NWS says. This means there's a low threat of property damage, but that shallow flooding can be expected in flood-prone locations near the water. The NWS says flooding could be one to two feet in some low-lying places.
