Flood Watch In Effect For Southern Nassau Tonight
The National Weather Service says low-lying areas near the water could see flooding tonight.

NASSAU COUNTY, NY — The National Weather Service has issued a flood advisory tonight for southern Nassau County from 11 p.m. to 3 a.m.
According to the weather service, there could be up to six inches of water above ground level in flood-prone areas near the shore. Some roads and low-lying properties may also experience flooding.
The flooding potential comes as showers move into the area and then increase tomorrow. Here's the forecast:

Today: Cloudy, with a high near 50. Southeast wind 11 to 13 mph.
Tonight: Showers likely, mainly between 9 p.m. and midnight, then rain after midnight. Patchy fog after midnight. Temperature falling to near 45 by 8 p.m., then rising to around 51 during the remainder of the night. East wind 13 to 16 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Friday: Rain and possibly a thunderstorm before 11 a.m., then a chance of rain between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Areas of fog before 11 a.m. High near 65. Southeast wind 15 to 17 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.
