Nassau Fire Causes 'Substantial Damage': FD
The overnight blaze was at an industrial building on Long Beach Road.
ISLAND PARK, NY — An early morning fire at a Long Beach Road property caused "substantial damage," a spokesperson for the Island Park Fire Department told Patch.
Firefighters from Long Beach, Point Lookout, Baldwin and Oceanside assisted in quickly extinguishing the blaze after 4 a.m. Tuesday.
At the property location, washers and dryers are manufactured, and there is an auto mechanic shop. It was a challenge for fire personnel to navigate the oil and car parts. The fire is believed to have started in a mechanic's garage, the spokesperson said.
