Dear Editor,

In February, Trump proposed a 21% cut to foreign aid. Cutting the International Affairs Budget would mean losing funding for programs that are put in place to help women and children in foreign countries. By cutting the budget the U.S puts itself at a higher risk for longer and deadlier military operations. By keeping and increasing the International Affairs Budget the U.S can fight pandemic diseases and implements agriculture programs to promote stability and prevent hunger.

Right now, the Global Child Thrive Act is before the U.S. Congress. This act will strengthen U.S. leadership in advancing early childhood development globally. This bill will expand the number of agencies over which the Special Advisor on Children in Adversity has authority to coordinate as it relates to the implementation of early childhood development policies. The Borgen Project, a non-profit organization that works to end global poverty, believes that the act is an important step in helping underdeveloped children in less developed nations. As a Borgen Project Ambassador, I am contacting my congressional leaders to support the Global Child Thrive Act. I urge you all to do so as well.
