Long Beach Cheers On Charlie McAvoy In Stanley Cup Playoffs

A local boy in the playoffs is making Long Islanders do something unthinkable: cheering on a Boston sports team.

People all over Long Beach are getting ready to cheer on Charlie McAvoy has he and the Boston Bruins play in the Stanley Cup Finals tonight.

McAvoy, a 21-year-old hockey player from Long Beach, started making a name for himself in 2017 when he got off the bench as a first-year rookie to play for the Bruins, is helping to take the team to the Stanley Cup.

The Bruins are playing the St. Louis Blues tonight. The two teams are tied with three wins each in the series of seven games, which means everything hangs on tonight's game.

Many are also saying that McAvoy made the best save of the playoffs when he managed to knock the puck off the back of Bruins goalie Tuuka Rask before it bounced into the net.

And now Long Beach residents are getting ready to do the unthinkable: cheer for a team from Boston.
