Long Beach Firefighter Dies From 9/11 Cancer
Ex-captain Michael Ornauer was a 30-year member of the department.

Michael Ornauer, an ex-captain of the Long Beach Fire Department, died from 9/11-related cancer on Tuesday night.
Ornauer was a lifelong firefighter. He was a member of the Long Beach Fire Department for 30 years, and was a member of the Freeport Fire Department before that.
In 2018, he retired from his position as a Nassau County Fire Communications Dispatcher, where he worked for 26 years. He also volunteered his time at the Nassau County Firefighters Museum.
