Long Beach Gets Ready to Light Up the Holidays

Join the city on Friday for the annual tree lighting.

City officials and local organizations will be coming together on Friday, Dec. 2 for the Annual Kennedy Plaza Christmas Tree Lighting Event.

The festivities will kick off at 5 p.m. Families can enjoy arts and crafts, a story time, hot chocolate and cookies and more under a tent in Kennedy Plaza. There will be a gingerbread bounce house and a life-size snowglobe.

The Kennedy Plaza Norway Spruce will be illuminated with hundreds of multi-colored lights and adorned with special ornaments imprinted with the names of people in the city.

The tree lighting ceremony will take place at 6 p.m. with holiday carols. There will even be a visit from Santa with assistance from the Long Beach Fire Department.
