Long Beach High School Swimmer Named Scholar Athlete

She's trying out for the Olympics, going to school and getting stellar grades.

Maggie Aroesty, a senior at Long Beach High School, was recently named a News 12 Long Island/Bethpage Federal Credit Union Scholar Athlete.

Aroesty, a swimmer, is a four-time state champion in the breast stroke who earned three state titles at a recent meet. Over the past summer, she garnered a top-10 finish at the U.S. Olympic Trials. One of her long term goals is to represent her country in the 2020 Olympic Games.

Aside from her athletic accomplishments, Aroesty is a top-tier student in and out of the classroom. She is an ambassador for the Athletes Helping Athletes and has a 94 unweighted average and scored a 28 on her ACT. She is looking forward to continuing her swimming and athletic achievements next year at the University of Southern California.
