Long Beach Lifeguard Memorial Swim This Weekend

Inaugural Long Beach Lifeguard Memorial Swim on Sunday at 9 a.m. at National Boulevard beach.

The City of Long Beach Department of Parks and Recreation in cooperation with the Beach Patrol will host the Inaugural Long Beach Lifeguard Memorial Swim on Sunday at 9 a.m. at National Boulevard beach. 

The one mile swim is in honor of all the deceased men and woman who have served on the Long Beach Lifeguard Patrol.  All swimmers over the age of 16 who can swim one mile in 55 minutes or less are invited to participate.
 
Registration and check in 7:45 to 8:30 a.m. on National Boulevard Beach.  The swim begins at 9 a.m. Pre-race entry fee is $35 and must be received by Friday Aug. 16 at 5 p.m. Day of race entry fee is $40 (Checks payable to: City of Long Beach). Entry fee includes t-shirt (first 100) bathing cap and refreshments.
 
Please note: timing will be electronic by the Long Beach Recreation Department.  There will not be chip timing.
 
Race awards will be given to the top three men and women overall and in the following age groups: 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75+.
 
The swim takes place rain or shine – Race Director, John Skudin, reserves the right to cancel or move this event to the bay due to unsafe conditions.  Bus transportation to race start will be provided from National Boulevard.
