Long Beach Students Earn Awards At Senior Scholarship Night

The high school graduates were honored for their outstanding work in academics, the arts, athletics and community service.

LONG BEACH, NY — The best and brightest of Long Beach's Class of 2021 were recently honored. At the Senior Scholarship Night, high school seniors were recognized for their accomplishments in academics, the arts, athletics, community service and other areas.

The June 7 outdoor celebration took place on Alumni Field.

"In addition to a celebration of individual accomplishments of our students, the evening is a recognition of the school community as a whole,” Long Beach High School Principal Jeffrey Myers said in a statement. "Our community has a long history of coming together to support each other, and we all know that the challenges this year were no different. The students that we celebrate this evening have shown grit, great fortitude and persistence as they face many obstacles."

Members of the Counseling Department presented an assortment of scholarships on behalf of local PTAs, teachers’ associations, government offices, civic groups and businesses, the school district said in a statement.

Several students were honored for leaving a positive impact on the school district Long Beach and the community.
