Long Beach Suspends Adult Volleyball Leagues Indefinitely

Players failed to keep a lane open for emergency vehicles, but the City of Long Beach said they will try to "devise ways" to resume matches.

LONG BEACH, NY — All adult league beach volleyball is suspended indefinitely. The dramatic move was posted Wednesday on the City of Long Beach's Facebook page.

As the city wrote, after "repeated warnings" to players, they were being "uncooperative in keeping the emergency lane clear on Ocean Beach Park."

That lane must be kept open for first responders, the city added in the online post.
