Long Island Weather: Get Ready For A Week Of Snow

LONG ISLAND, NY — Enjoy the sunshine while you can, because it seems Long Island is in for a lot of snow and low temperatures this week.

According to the National Weather Service, there's a decent chance of snow every day from Tuesday through Friday. Tuesday could add an inch to what's already out there, and maybe couple it with rain. Thursday will likely bring another inch or two of the white stuff.

Low temperatures and cloudy skies means it may take longer for the snow that's already on the ground to melt. So if you want to get some sledding or skiing in, this is probably the week to do it.

Tuesday- Snow likely before noon, then rain and snow likely between noon and 3pm, then rain likely after 3pm. Cloudy, with a high near 39. Wind chill values between 20 and 30. Southeast wind 5 to 9 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.

Tuesday Night- A 30 percent chance of snow before 9pm. Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly clear, with a low around 23. Northwest wind around 9 mph.

Wednesday- Increasing clouds, with a high near 32. Wind chill values between 15 and 25. Northwest wind 6 to 10 mph.

Wednesday Night- Snow likely, mainly after 4am. Cloudy, with a low around 23. Calm wind becoming northeast around 5 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of around an inch possible.

Thursday- Snow likely, mainly before 10am. Cloudy, with a high near 31. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Thursday Night- A 30 percent chance of snow. Cloudy, with a low around 22.

Friday- A 30 percent chance of snow before 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 30.

Friday Night- Mostly cloudy, with a low around 19.

Saturday- Partly sunny, with a high near 30.
