Long Island Weather: Lots Of April Showers To End The Month

LONG ISLAND, NY — April is going to end with lots of showers, according to the National Weather Service. But the temperature will at least be pretty mild most days.

According to the NWS, Tuesday is going to be clear and sunny, and some of Wednesday, too. But other than that, Long Island is looking at rain. The rain shouldn't be too heavy, though. The temperatures are going to be pretty mild, too, with lows in the 40s and highs approaching 60 degrees some days.

But as of now, it's looking like it may be sunny this weekend. So hopefully these April showers will lead to some beautiful May flowers.

Tonight: Light rain likely, mainly before midnight. Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 40. North wind 8 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent.

Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 59. Northwest wind 6 to 8 mph.

Tuesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 44. Light and variable wind.

Wednesday: A 20 percent chance of light rain after noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 54. East wind 7 to 15 mph.

Wednesday Night: Showers likely, mainly after midnight. Cloudy, with a low around 47. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Thursday: Showers. High near 58. Breezy. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent.

Thursday Night: Showers likely. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 49. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent.

Friday: A 50 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 59.

Friday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 47.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 61.
