Long Island Weather: Lots Of Rain, But Mild Temperatures

LONG ISLAND, NY — Get used to today's weather, because Long Islanders are going to be seeing a lot of it this week. Every other day this week is going to look like today, just a little warmer.

According to the National Weather Service, the rain will be broken up by days of sun, and temperatures aren't going to go too low. Most of the week, highs will be in the low-to-mid 50s.

Today: A chance of rain and snow before 10 a.m., then rain. High near 45. East wind 15 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. Little or no snow accumulation expected.

Tonight: Rain, mainly before midnight. Low around 38. Breezy, with an east wind 15 to 20 mph becoming north after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent. New precipitation amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.

Tuesday: Partly sunny, with a high near 54. North wind 7 to 10 mph.

Tuesday Night: A 20 percent chance of rain after 2 a.m. Increasing clouds, with a low around 42. Southwest wind around 6 mph becoming southeast after midnight.

Wednesday: Rain, mainly after 8 a.m. High near 47. Breezy, with an east wind 13 to 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
