New York Surf Week Runs Through July 16
Long Beach becomes New York's surfing Mecca for a week celebrating surfers and surf culture.

Surf's up, Long Beach. The 8th Annual New York Surf Week starts today in Long Beach, and promises to bring a week of fun in the sun and sand to the City by the Sea.
Surf Week, sponsored by NYSEA, runs through Sunday, July 16. Each day features fun and unique events that celebrate surfing and surf culture. And, of course, there's a surf competition that runs the whole week, depending on weather and waves. There's also a special competition for kids on Saturday, July 15. Registration is still open.
Each day features an Expression Session — a one-hour free surf competition, where the best trick wins $1,000. There will also be tons of vendors on the Boardwalk at National Boulevard.

On Thursday, NYSEA is sponsoring Surf Film Premier Night, featuring "Time And Tide," directed by Drew Maloney, and "Green Means Go," directed by Jason Belsky and Will Skudin. The films will be shown at the Bridgeview Yacht Club in Island Park.
The week wraps up with the second Annual Bowl and Street Bash, a skateboarding contest for both adults and children.
