No Train Service On Long Beach LIRR Branch This Weekend
Work to repair damage from Hurricane Sandy will force the LIRR to close the branch this weekend. Buses will be available instead.

There won't be any train service on the Long Beach Branch of the Long Island Rail Road this weekend as crews work to repair damage caused by Hurricane Sandy.
From the night of Friday, Sept. 20 through the early morning of Monday, Sept. 23, there will be no service on the Long Beach branch. Crews will be restoring signal systems that were damaged by Sandy, as well as increasing their resiliency to future storms. They will also be performing maintenance on the Reynolds Channel Bridge between Long Beach and Island Park.
The work will begin around 10 p.m. on Friday and continue until about 1 a.m. on Monday.

Long Beach trains will run as normal between Penn Station and Valley Stream. Those who wish to travel to or from Lynbrook, Centre Avenue, East Rockaway, Oceanside, Island Park or Long Beach will have to take buses instead, which will be provided by the MTA. Customers at the Lynbrook station can also use the Babylon Branch train, which will still be running as normal.
Because of the use of buses, travelers should plan for an additional half hour of travel time.
