Obituary: Loretta B. Morrone, of Island Park, Dies at 95

Loretta B. Morrone (Glynn), of Island Park, passed away surrounded by her children after a battle with cancer on Sunday, April 17. She was 95.

She was born to James A. Glynn Jr. and Mary Melville Glynn on December 5, 1920.

In 1947, Loretta married Louis M. Morrone.

Together they moved to Island Park in 1951, where Loretta has resided for 64 years.

After Louis passed away when Loretta was 40, Loretta learned to drive and re-entered the workforce to raise her four young children on her own.

She worked at Long Beach Medical Center as Central Supply Supervisor until her retirement at age 77.

Loretta was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Parish and was a volunteer at the first San Gennaro Feast.

Loretta is survived by her children; Mary Anne Shaw (Barry), Jeanne Morrone, Louis Michael Morrone (Gail Mirayes), James A. Morrone Sr. (Lucretia); and her grandchildren, Caitlin, Andrew, James Anthony and Joseph Morrone.

In addition, she is survived by many other relatives including her godson, James Glynn

A funeral service was held at the Christopher T. Jordan Funeral Home on Wednesday.

Interment will be private.
