Registration Open For Long Beach 1K And 4K Independence Day Races
Awards will be handed out for all age groups.
LONG BEACH, NY — Before the hotdogs and burgers are on the grill, get the running shoes ready! It's the Fabulous 4th of July 4K race and children's 1K race.
Registration for the holiday sprint is underway through the City of Long Beach's Department of Parks and Recreation.
The 1K fun run will start at 8 a.m. and the 4K race is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on the Fourth, the city said on its website. Entry is $10 for children 15 and younger. Participants for the 4K are charged $30 before July 2 at noon and $40 from 6:30 a.m to 8 a.m. on race day.

This year's races are being held in memory of Sergeant Sean Ryan of the Long Beach Police Department.
The 4K race (or 2.4 miles) will be held on a flat course, starting and finishing on the boardwalk at Laurelton Boulevard.

Awards will be given to the top four men and women in various age groups from under 14 to 80+, according to the application.
