Shark Sighting Shuts Nassau Beaches For 3rd Straight Day
A shark sighting along Nassau County's South Shore forced officials to close beaches to swimming.

NASSAU COUNTY, NY — Long Island's own Shark Week continued Wednesday as beaches were closed to swimmers for the third straight day after another shark was spotted by a lifeguard.
A Hempstead lifeguard spotted the shark in the waters off Lido Beach in the early afternoon. Swimming was prohibited at Long Beach, Nassau County and Hempstead beaches.
Though the water was closed to swimming, the beaches were still open. It's the third day this week that a shark sighting has shut down swimming at Nassau's South Shore beaches.
