South Nassau Hospital Ends ER Visits Due To Coronavirus Spike
Mount Sinai South Nassau hospital is no longer allowing visitors in its emergency departments.

OCEANSIDE, NY — Mount Sinai South Nassau hospital on Monday announced the suspension of emergency department visitations due to rising coronavirus cases in the area.
The policy affects the emergency department at the hospital's main campus in Oceanside and the standalone emergency department in Long Beach.
The hospital said staff will keep visitors and family updated on a patient's status by phone. The only exceptions are for parents of child patients and end-of-life visitations.

"Mount Sinai South Nassau remains committed to taking necessary precautions to provide the safest patient care environment possible throughout the hospital and to protect our patients, staff and visitors from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic," the hospital said in a statement. "We appreciate the cooperation of our community and will continue to closely monitor our visitor policies."
The no-visitation policy is in effect until further notice. The change does not affect the hospital's non-emergency visiting hours at its main campus, which is still from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. daily. For additional information about visiting patients at Mount Sinai South Nassau, click here.
