Update: 5 Cars Hit by Cement Wave in Long Beach

The malfunctioning truck dumped cement on Maryland Avenue near Park Avenue, LBPD said.

Five cars were hit with cement that was accidentally dumped by a malfunctioning truck in Long Beach Wednesday morning, according to Long Beach Police.

At 9:15 a.m., the truck was pouring a cement foundation on Maryland Avenue near Park Avenue when the vehicle’s pump began to malfunction, cops said.

Five cars were hit by the cement wave, officials said. The weight of the cement caused windows on one of the cars to shatter, police said.

Maintenance workers from the City of Long Beach assisted in the cleanup, which was completed at around 11 a.m., cops said.

No one was injured.

Authorities stressed that no explosion had occurred despite early reports.
