16-Story Building Third Tower To Rise On Lower East Side Block

Two other 10-story buildings are slated for the stretch of Chrystie Street.

LOWER EAST SIDE, NY — Another high rise is set to join the hodgepodge of towers coming to Chrystie Street.

Arava Group filed plans with the city to erect a 16-story building at 167 Chrystie Street between Rivington and Delancey streets, permits filed with the city's Department of Buildings show. The high-rise is the third slated for the block with DRK Chrystie LLC constructing a 10-story building at neighboring 165 Chrystie Street and Nexus Development Group building another 10-story structure at 173 Chrystie Street.

The 16-story building will tower over most of the block's low-rise buildings at 170 feet with roughly 70,000 square feet — more than 53,00 square feet is dedicated to residential use with 78 units planned at an average of 680 square feet per an apartment. Some 5,000 square feet will account for ground floor retail space, according to building records.

Arava Group aims to pack the building with high-end amenities including a fitness center, sauna and a "pet spa." The second floor will feature an outdoor courtyard and the roof will boast a garden with sprawling city views.

ODA Architects is designing the project along with the other two buildings slated for the block.
