LOWER EAST SIDE, NY — A developer is planning an 18-story hotel on Bowery and Broome St., permits show.

Lightstone Group is planning to build an 18-story Moxy Hotel — Marriott International's brand of millennial-focused hotels — as a part of an expansion to add some 1,500 Moxy Hotel units citywide, Department of Buildings permits show.

Permits at 145 Bowery show developers are planning an 18-story hotel at the corner of Bowery and Broome St. The architecture firm on file is Stonehill Taylor, which was behind Chelsea's Moxy Hotel design.

Bowery Boogie first reported the latest Department of Buildings filings, dated April 12.

The developer announced last summer it would develop a Lower East Side Moxy Hotel to add to its outposts in Chelsea, Times Square and the East Village — the latter which sparked protests against the demolition of historic buildings to make way for the 13-story hotel in 2016.

The Moxy Hotel on Bowery is proposed to be sited on the corner of Bowery and Broome St., where one lot is currently home to a lighting store at 151 Bowery.

Lightstone was reported to have been in contract to acquire the building from Emmut Properties last summer, The Real Deal reported.

Property records show Lightstone bought the lot from Emmut for $28.5 million. In 2014, the same site sold for $23.5 million — a record for the lighting district at the time.

Chelsea's 35-story Moxy Hotel opened in February, and its Tribeca location opened last November. Moxy's East Village on East 11th St. is expected to open this October, Marriott's website shows.
