Baseball Champs, Basketball Camp Registration
A look at Malverne, West Hempstead and Lynbrook today.

- Baseball History: The Malverne Little League senior baseball team won the 2013 District 29 and Section 5 championship for the first time in club history on Tuesday. The team will now represent New York City and Western Long Island in the state tournament Wednesday night at Ostego Park in Dix Hills at 7 p.m.
- Library Event: There is a hands-on animal show at the Lynbrook Library. Children ages 3 and up can pet the animals and critters presented by Grean Meadows Farm. No registration is required. The event will start at 2 p.m. in the community room.
- Basketball Camp:Â Is your child looking to improve their basketball skills? West Hempstead High School graduate and UMass basketball star Etienne Brower is hosting a summer camp at St. Paul's in Garden City. Get all of the details here.
- Body Identified: The body found floating by a fisherman Thursday evening at Hempstead Lake State Park was identified earlier this week as a homeless woman who went missing in the same area on Father's Day. Click here to read more.
