Baldwin Man Pleads Guilty to Brutally Assaulting, Strangling Girlfriend
The man strangled his girlfriend, the mother of his children, until she passed out and slammed her head against a sink, officials said.

A Baldwin man pleaded guilty to strangling and violently assaulting his girlfriend, the mother of his children, in their home in 2014, the Nassau County District Attorney announced Monday.
Scott Ford, 46, admitted to a slew of felony charges, including assault, family offense, and strangulation stemming from the May 2014 incident, authorities said.
The DA’s office is asking for a sentence of five years, officials said.

Ford had been drinking the night he assaulted his girlfriend, who had a restraining order against him dating back to May 2011, officials said. Ford “strangled the victim and banged her head against a sink,” the DA said. The woman lost consciousness and sustained injuries to her neck and the back of her head, authorities said.
Ford was indicted in June 2014 on charges of second-degree strangulation, second-degree assault, aggravated criminal contempt, aggravated family offense, first-degree criminal contempt, criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation, and third-degree assault, officials said.

“Defendant Scott Ford was in violation of an order of protection when he brutally and senselessly attacked his girlfriend,” said Acting DA Madeline Singas in a statement. “Domestic violence is a scourge on our communities and we will do everything in our power to put abusers, like Scott Ford, in prison.”
Ford is due to be sentenced Sept. 17.
