LYNBROOK, NY — In order to make way for a new apartment complex, the Capri Lynbrook Motor Inn has officially ceased function. Demolition on the building is expected to start this spring.

The Capri is being demolished to make way for a luxury apartment complex called The Cornerstone at Yorkshire. It is planned to be a 97,482 square-foot multi-family, transit-oriented rental apartment complex. The 80-unit apartment complex would include eight affordable apartments.

“We are proud to be moving a step closer to the monumental transformation that will soon take place on this site and bring overwhelming benefits to the community at-large,” said Anthony Bartone, managing partner of developer Terwilliger & Bartone Properties. “Not only will this redevelopment remove what has been viewed as a nuisance property, but it will also inject new foot traffic and discretionary spending downtown, create a positive new revenue stream for the Village and put residents in close proximity to the train as part of this major revitalization effort.”

The Cornerstone at Yorkshire will offer studio, one- and two-bedroom residences with high-end finishes such as quartz counters, stainless appliances and high ceilings. Amenities in the development will include a fitness center, spacious clubroom for gathering and activities as well as a courtyard, all overseen by a professional property management team and built employing state-of-the-art “green” & “healthy” building techniques.

The Capri Lynbrook Motor Inn, which opened in 1960, became identified as a property with the potential to be redeveloped upon the Village of Lynbrook’s issuance of a Request for Proposals (RFP) to reposition the property in 2016. Demolition of the motel building is on track to be this spring, and The Cornerstone Yorkshire is anticipated to begin leasing in the Summer 2021 followed by a grand opening in Fall 2021.
