Oceanside Couple Identified in Reported Murder-Suicide

A husband and wife were found dead in their Oceanside home Monday evening.

Police have identified the deceased as Christine Braun Johnson, 63, and James Johnson, 73, both of 2856 Nicole Court in Oceanside. Both victims suffered apparent gunshot wounds.

Teen Arrested for Oceanside Robberies

A local teenager has been arrested in connection with three recent robberies in Oceanside, Nassau County Police said.

According to detectives, Frank Camporeale Jr., 16, of Long Beach was located on Austin Boulevard in Island Park Monday by Bureau of Special Operations officers and placed under arrest without incident.

  • On July 1 at 10:32 a.m., Gloria J. Lewis, 47, of Lakeview, was arrested for petit larceny that reportedly occurred at 40 Maine Ave. in Rockville Centre on June 27 following an investigation by police personnel at 34 Maple Ave. in Rockville Centre.
  • On July 2 at 11:47 a.m., Kevin Brown, 26, of Hempstead, was arrested for aggravated unlicensed operation in the third degree, unlawful possession of marijuana and vehicle and traffic law violations following an investigation by police personnel on Broadway in Rockville Centre.
  • On July 3 at 9:29 p.m., Andrew D. Sepulveda, 23, of Valley Stream, was arrested for aggravated unlicensed operation in the second degree and vehicle and traffic law violations following an investigation by police personnel on Merrick Road in Rockville Centre.
  • On July 4 at 3:55 a.m., Theresa CN Herrera, 26, Wheatley Heights was arrested for aggravated driving while intoxicated and vehicle and traffic law violations following an investigation by police personnel on Peninsula Boulevard in Rockville Centre.
  • On July 5 at 2:27 p.m., Dyquan Lemar Graham, 19, of Hempstead, was arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a child and unlawful possession of marijuana following an investigation on Merrick Road in Rockville Centre.
  • On July 5 at 10:32 p.m., Carolyn A. Murray, 21, of  Collegeville, Pa., was arrested and charged with assault in the third degree during an investigation at a hotel on Merrick Road in Rockville Centre.
  • On July 6 at 9:04 a.m., Edward Deptula, 25, of Rockville Centre, was arrested and charged with criminal contempt in the second degree during an investigation at his residence.
  • On July 6 at 6:14 p.m., Kareem L. Hofler, 36, of Long Beach, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct on N. Centre Avenue in Rockville Centre.
  • On July 7 at 12:03 a.m., Troy E. Edwards, 45, of Roosevelt, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, speeding and possessing an open container of alcohol on Sunrise Highway in Rockville Centre.
  • On July 10, during an investigation in Parking Field 2S in Garden City, detectives arrested a 31-year-old female from Hempstead for prostitution and a 46-year-old male from North Merrick for patronizing a prostitute.
  • On July 12, a Garden City police officer stopped an 18-year-old male from Jericho for unsafe driving on Clinton Road. The subject was arrested for underage DWI (.15 percent blood alcohol content), an unsafe lane change and impeding traffic.
  • On July 12, a Garden City police officer arrested a 45-year-old male from Valley Stream at a Garden City residence for visiting an acquaintance in violation of a Nassau County Court “Stay Away” order of protection.
  • On July 13, a Garden City police officer arrested a 68-year-old female from Westbury for leaving the scene of a property damage accident on June 25 at Adelphi University.
  • On July 14, a Garden City police officer arrested a 31-year-old male from Westbury for aggravated DWI (.21 percent blood alcohol content) after stopping him for driving aggressively on Washington Avenue where he was observed driving over the center line and moving unsafely from lane to lane.
  • On July 16, during a domestic incident investigation in Garden City, a 23-year-old male was arrested for assaulting another family member. The subject resisted arrest causing one officer to receive a knee injury requiring transport to a local hospital. 

Burglary

  • On July 6 at 5:30 a.m., a deli owner on Maple Avenue in Rockville Centre reported an unknown person broke the front door glass and entered the premise and then tampered with the cash register.

  • On July 6 at 5:10 a.m., a restaurant owner on Sunrise Highway in Rockville Centre reported an unknown person broke the rear door glass and entered the premise and then tampered with the cash register.

  • On July 6 at 5:50 a.m., a coffee shop owner on N. Village Avenue in Rockville Centre reported an unknown person broke the front door glass and entered the premise and stole cash.
