Frank Ohman's New York Dance Theatre presents its 33rd Season of "The Nutcracker" at Hofstra University
Performances on Dec. 19 at 2:00 and 7:00 p.m. and Dec. 20 and 21 at 12:00 and 5:00 p.m. at the John Cranford Adams Playhouse

Ohman’s production is the largest Nutcracker on Long Island with added music, scenes, and dances, and is the only one presented in the tradition of New York City Ballet’s George Balanchine. Smithtown resident Andrea Cillo will appear as the Sugar Plum Fairy partnered by Dance Theatre of Harlem’s DaVon Doane as her Cavalier. Artistic director Frank Ohman, Long Island’s only direct link to Balanchine, will appear as the mysterious “Herr Drosselmeir” on the Friday and Saturday evening shows. Maximilian Lendegger, who performed the role of the young Prince at Lincoln Center for the past two years, will appear in the same role in Ohman’s production. Numerous other guest artists from NYC companies will join Ohman’s troupe of ninety children, pre-professional, and professional dancers in bringing this charming story ballet to life on the stage of the John Cranford Adams Playhouse. Tickets are $40 ($35 for seniors/children) and are available at www.ohmanballet.org or by calling 631.462.0964. For the Friday 2:00 p.m. show only, all seats are $20 regardless of age. This holiday classic appeals to all ages with its elegant Christmas Party Scene, its fierce battle between toy soldiers and giant mice, its dazzling live snowstorm, and its brilliant choreography and dancing.
