'Kind, Dedicated, Amazing': Malverne-Lynbrook Local Hero

MALVERNE-LYNBROOK, NY — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented and changing times.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. Together with Ring, we’re working to let all your neighbors know about these outstanding people and their stories.

This submission comes from Nikki Diaz, who nominated Jack Hunter. Jack is a swimming instructor who goes above and beyond for his students.

Reason for recognition: Jack has gone above and beyond to make sure the swimmers in Lynbrook still have a great summer even without their swim team. He gave lessons, set up the pool and made sure the kids had fun. Everything he did was to help these kids have an amazing summer!
One thing to know: Jack is a kind, dedicated, amazing young man who always puts his swimmers first. He is not only our coach, but he has become family!
