Lynbrook HS Senior Sara Bahri Receives Daikin Science Scholarship
Presentation made virtually to area students via video conference

Daikin North America LLC (www.northamerica-daikin.com), a worldwide provider of advanced, high-quality air conditioning and heating solutions for residential, commercial and industrial applications, recently awarded Sara Bahri, a 2020 graduate from Lynbrook High School, its Daikin Science Scholarship Award. The scholarship is offered to select graduating seniors in Nassau County who demonstrate academic excellence in the sciences or mathematics, and are interested in pursuing the sciences in their college studies. The Daikin Science Scholarship includes a $2,000 financial award, as well as ongoing mentoring from Daikin's team of experienced innovators and engineers. The scholarship was presented virtually on July 22, 2020.
Sara was selected for her outstanding academic accomplishments. She achieved an overall grade point average of 101.93, placing her in the top five percent of her graduating class. Sara plans to attend Georgia Institute of Technology where she will be majoring in physics.
"Daikin places paramount importance on education, and we feel it is our duty to provide support and encouragement to those students who are passionate about the sciences," said John Fraser-Mifsud, Daikin's Vice President for National Accounts and Design Center Strategic Development. "We are delighted to present this scholarship to Sara. Her academic achievements, combined with her interest in the sciences, make her an ideal recipient of this scholarship. Daikin initiated the Daikin Science Scholarship program on Long Island in 2020 as a vehicle to support talented high school seniors who are interested in pursuing science- and engineering- related studies. In addition to Sara, Daikin Science Scholarships were also presented to Stephen Debany, a graduate of Garden City High School, and Matthew Furst, who attended Oceanside High School. Each recipient received identical $2,000 awards, as well as mentoring support.
