Lynbrook LIRR Station Gets $17.5 Million For Upgrades And Repairs
The money will build a new waiting room, renovate the platform and more.
Senator Todd Kaminsky announced on Thursday that $17.5 million in renovations are coming to the Lynbrook Long Island Rail Road station following extensive meetings with LIRR President Phillip Eng, Mayor of Lynbrook Alan Beach and Assemblyman Brian Curran.
The announced funding will cover three main areas: $6 million for concrete viaduct repair; $10 million for platform-level upgrades including a renovation of the platform, new canopies and waiting rooms, platform surfacing, onsite cameras, wifi, and LED lighting; and $1.5 million for structural support work.
“Hardworking Lynbrook commuters deserve a 21st century station that is both safe and modern,” said Kaminsky. “All Long Island Rail Road riders deserve a dignified and sane commute and having a first class station is part of that.”
