Lynbrook To Swear In New Mayor Tonight
Deputy Mayor Alan Beach is replacing Bill Hendrick, who died earlier this month.

The Village of Lynbrook is scheduled to swear in Deputy Mayor Alan Beach as mayor tonight, replacing former Mayor Bill Hendrick, who died earlier this month from complications following a heart attack.
According to Newsday, Beach will hold the seat until at least March, when a special election will be held to vote for both the mayor and Beach's trustee seat. Someone will soon be appointed to fill Beach's seat.
News 12 reported that Beach is a 35-year resident of the village, and is also a retired member of the FDNY.

Hendrick spent decades in public service. He was a trustee of the village from 1989 to 1993, and then again from 1995 to 2010. In 2011, he was appointed mayor by outgoing mayor Brian Curran, who had just won a seat in the State Assembly. Later that year, Hendrick won the election for the seat, and has held it since.
Outside of his work with the village, Hendrick was the Deputy Town Attorney for the Town of Hempstead. He was also a 19-year member of the Lynbrook Fire Department. He was also a member of the Lynbrook Elks, the Knights of Columbus and the Ancient Order of Hibernians.
