Lynbrook's Derrick Okunpolor wins Bernie Ward Commitment Award for Kellenberg Memorial's Varsity Basketball Team.

On March 12, 2015, Kellenberg Memorial High School held a banquet to honor its winter athletes. Individual awards are given out to some of the more outstanding athletes. Head coach Jack McCutcheon wrote this about Derrick. As a three year varsity player and senior co-captain of this year’s varsity basketball team, Derrick displayed outstanding leadership abilities both on and off the court. He averaged 10 points and 10 rebounds a game and was the top shot blocker on the team. His hard work and dedication helped the underclassmen understand how the game of basketball is played here at Kellenberg Memorial High School. Derrick was always a pleasure to be around and was an excellent role model for the varsity basketball team.
