Malverne Holds Drive-Thru Moving Up Ceremony For Fifth Graders

Despite the pandemic, Davison Avenue Intermediate School wanted to celebrate the students' achievement.

MALVERNE, NY — Despite the ongoing pandemic, Davison Avenue Intermediate School in the Malverne Union Free School District was determined to honor its fifth grade students who were unable to have their moving up ceremony that would have been held in the Howard T. Herber auditorium this June.

In compliance with current guidelines for social distancing, Davison Avenue held a drive-up moving up ceremony for its students in front of the school. Each student was invited, with their family, to drive up to the school to receive their certificate, T-shirt and have a picture taken with Principal Rachel Gross and Assistant Principal Stephen Benfante, all from the confines of their family car.
