The Malverne School District has implemented a K-12 technology-based research project this year, with the goal of getting students to become masters at researching with the assistance of various technology-based programs.Â
First-grade students have been using PebbleGo, a research-based website for primary grades, to find information on animals. The children gather information from the online encyclopedia site and formulate paragraphs about the animal. They use Microsoft Word to write their paragraphs and import images to support their project.
This interdisciplinary lesson incorporates science, reading, writing mechanics and technology and is aligned with the new Common Core Standards. Â
